Last night ranks in the top three worst ass kickings I have ever endured. Not sure how I feel as I still know that I was the best of the candidates for trustee but with that being said it is time to rally around our new leadership and support them and move this village forward.
Like an old friend of mine says "you looked like a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest".

Besides being an oaf, your biggest problem was aligning yourself with a miscreant like Gentes. Amazing that you actually thought this guy was the right type to align yourself with. You deserved to get spanked.
Skinner took his blog down today. Looks like his mom wouldn't give him anymore money to pay the internet bill. From the Daily Herald today:
A perennial Lake County political candidate faces felony charges after he stole thousands of dollars from his elderly mother, authorities said Thursday.
Steven M. Skinner, 49, of the 39000 block of North Woodside Avenue, Antioch Township, surrendered Thursday on a warrant charging him with financial exploitation of an elderly person and theft.
At least $190,000 is believed to be missing, said Marc Hansen, an investigator with the Lake County state's attorney's office.
Skinner, a former library board member who has run unsuccessfully for a variety of other elected offices, took control of his 80-year-old mother's bank accounts in 2004, Hansen said.
The thefts took place between 2004 and 2008, authorities said. Skinner began writing checks from his mother's account to pay his own bills. Skinner also recently bought a house with his mother's money, Hansen said.
A relative discovered the thefts and called authorities, officials said.
Skinner appeared before Associate Judge Raymond Collins on Thursday and was released after posting $5,000 for bond. He is due to appear in court April 28.
If convicted, Skinner faces up to 15 years in prison on each charge.
Reached at home Thursday afternoon, Skinner called the case "very troubling to me" but said he expects to be vindicated.
"There's two sides to every story," he said, declining to comment further.
Skinner, who has worked as a real-estate agent, journalist and machine-shop owner, has been a regular on Lake County ballots for years.
Formerly of Round Lake, he was the Democratic nominee for the State House 52nd District seat in 2002, but lost to Republican Mark Beaubien.
The next year he won a seat on the Round Lake Area Public Library District board. He served as president of that panel.
Skinner ran for the Lake County Board's District 6 seat later in 2003, but lost to Republican Larry Leafblad.
He unsuccessfully ran for Round Lake mayor in 2005, losing to Bill Gentes. After moving to the Antioch area, he lost a Democratic primary bid for the county board's District 1 seat last year.
Your voting record and comments clearly showed that you served with the best interest of the people at heart! You just got hit by the get rid of Bill freight train at full speed. Bill got beat you lost there is a huge differance! The differance between you and Bill is you will be missed! Keep in mind everything Ed Kohlmeyer did for RL and he never held elected office. You to can and will do the same.
It sounds as if the other members of the "family who notified authorites of misuse of funds" will be getting lawyers to be sure to get the remaining monies or assets frozen until they can get their hooks in it. They obviously stuck this man with ALL the responsibility. And if he was deemed guardian/custodian of her financial affairs, he also has the responsibility of reporting what he spends her money on, QUARTERLY, up to the last dime. And if the man bought another house with some of the money, he had to have her O.K. to do so. My advice to this man who has been taking care of his Mother, ...since your "family" thinks you are doing a poor job, whole heartedly hand the entire situation over to them and wash your hands of it. They can do the job. The thing is, they will place her in an neglectful nursing home where she will lose what dignity she has left. "The love of money is the root of all evil." And it sounds like these family members are out for blood.
