Double Digits!

At 5:29pm 10 years ago today Shelby Reese arrived into our world and it has never been the same since. Being the middle child and only girl she takes a lot of abuse from her brothers that flank her. Amazingly protecting her has never really been a concern of mine. She is incredibly smart and can be quite vicious when necessary. She is a lot like her mother... never afraid to say what's on her mind or step in when she thinks something or someone is being treated wrong. AND she holds her ground.

Today she is making quite the big deal our of going into double digits. Evidently turning 9 almost requires a new outfit for school, waking up very early and sitting at the edge of your bed shaking like you have been holding your pee for 2 days hoping everyone will rush in and sing you happy birthday.

Then 7am Aunt Penny calls to sing you happy birthday and her smile could not have been any bigger. Shelby is the first of our family to celebrate our births, Mine is in February, then Lori in March, then Jake in April and lastly Josh in September. I love my children's birthdays because they remind me of THE three greatest days of my life.
